Southern Tire Mart at Pilot Flying J to Provide Complimentary Safe & Road-Ready Checks

Southern Tire Mart at Pilot Flying J (STMPFJ) is providing free Safe & Road-Ready Checks from August 1-28 as part of  Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance’s (CVSA) Brake Safety Week. Professional drivers are invited to take advantage of this  complimentary service at all 33 conveniently located STMPFJ Truck Care centers across the country.

“Leading up to the event, Southern Tire Mart at Pilot Flying J is here to provide necessary preparation tips to professional  drivers and to help ensure trucks meet the requirements necessary for the checks. By offering free Safe & Road-Ready Checks,  our hope is that we help more professional drivers pass the checks successfully,” said John Boynton, president of STMPFJ. 

STMPFJ’s Safe & Road-Ready Checks are heavily focused on the inspection of the tires and brakes of trucks, and include the  assessment of windshields, exhaust, lights and more. The three most common failed items are tires, brakes and lights.  Performing proper inspections on each of these will help reduce the chances of receiving a violation.

According to CVSA, approximately 4 million vehicle safety inspections are performed on commercial vehicles throughout the  United States, Canada and Mexico. As part of a special program developed by CVSA, these inspections, including CVSA Brake  Safety Week, provide uniformity in safety procedures, standards, requirements and enforcement of roadside inspections.
