restored the handling on wife’s Forester — amazingly quiet with tenacious grip

The original tires for my wife’s Forester were running low so I looked at replacements. These tires actually have a lower speed rating (T versus H) than the stock tires however they are the correct size. For reference, a T means the maximum safe speed to drive is 118 mph; an H denotes a safe speed of 130. Since my wife doesn’t regularly travel above 105 mph, these tires seemed like they’d be a good match ,,,. and I was right. The tires look fantastic on her car and are nearly silent when driving on the highway. They’re amazingly quiet and stick to the road tenaciously. The grip is apparent when driving through rain and, especially, wet pavement with either a painted or tarred surface. With the old tires, turning on those extra slippery surfaces would produce squealing, these tires produce no noise, just traction. I would purchase the Avid tires again in an instant as we’re very happy with the feel and performance. They been on for Forester for several months and have no apparent wear.

    Very smooth ride

This is a quality tire. The brand speaks for itself. Great mileage and a smooth ride. Excellent price. Can’t go wrong with this for a daily driver

    Very good in rain

1st buy was at 119K, 4/26/2010, replaced all 4 on my 2000 Camry. Mounted them myself. Got them balanced.2nd buy at 165K, 5/26/12, replaced 2 fronts and had car aligned,3rd buy 4 tires at 210K. So the back pair lasted 90k. No rotating.Very good in rain. Inflated to 40psi front, 38psi back get 33-35 mpg and can crank it into entrance and exitramps leaving the tailgating SUV’s in the dust!

Not good for higher speeds 70mph plus.

Excellent traction and good for speeds up to 60mph. The sidewalls are a bit soft so any highway driving can be a bit challenging to keep a straight line. Most of my driving is highway driving and any wind gusts or passing semis or even cars can make your car sway a lot. I have had Uniroyal, Michelin, Douglas, and Cooper tires and these are the only ones I have had issues with on the highway which I am traveling 70mph plus. My bald Douglas tires handled better on the highway but no traction because the tread was so low.

    5 Star Tires

They are great tires and the price was even better. If I had one complaint, it is that the road noise from them seems louder than my last tires; still five stars from me.

    Yokohama Touring Tire

I installed it on my truck and so far it’s working great Runs smooth and quiet. The price was the best part as I don’t use the truck that often and didn’t want to spend too much for my truck that sits at the house most of the time. My old tire still had lots of thread left but the sidewalls started cracking due to age.

  • Submitted by KIngjames on January 27, 2021

    Solid tires

I have and will always purchase these tires. Solid for the price you pay and these have very good thread and wear evenly with proper tire rotation. One less thing I have to worry about when it comes to my car. When I need new tires again I will be purchasing these exact model.

    Good tires

I am a Michelin guy for my F150 and motorhome. However, these tires have always been worthy for other vehicles in the past. Good purchase price as well.

These tires run smooth and true. I can’t rate the mileage potential yet

There is nothing to bad to report. I bought these to put on the front of a 1974 Datsun 710 that is very fussy about it’s front tires. These tires are as good as any that Iv’e used in the past and cost less.

    Previous use.

Not a lot of data on these particular tires, but I’ve used the same model tires for many miles over a period of 7 years and I was quite impressed with their performance. I don’t expect to be disappointed by this purchase. Very good price as well.

Brand new Yokohama tire looked great and was fresh when it arrived

Brand new Yokohama tire looked great and was fresh when it arrived. 2016 Mfg. date on tire and was installed on a 99 Mazda Protégé. Best price beat local tire dealers although my mechanic matched the price on an older mfg. dated tire that was new. Thanks.

They’re not perfect but they work

I bought a pair of these for my Honda Odyssey I had the professionally installed for some reason my steering wheel started to shake a bit, the tire shop said that the tires has some kind of curve on the treads

    Great tires for the price.

I bought these tires for my granddaughters impala. They last a long time and give good traction wet or dry even on snow and ice.

Great Tires for this Price Point.

Excellent buy for the price point. Tires arrived without damage and are quiet, and smooth for a Toyota Camry. They look to be built well. There is no telling for tread life as it’s too early to know; but I’m trusting they will reasonably last. These specific tires are rated at 65k for tread life, but folks should realize that this is a general estimate. It all depends on how you drive, what roads you drive on, whether the tires are inflated properly, and so on. If they last 65k then great, if they last 50k, I’m satisfied considering the price paid. I always had good success with Yokohama, and don’t think this purchase will be any different.

    Great little tires!

I bought these to replace the bias-ply tires that are no longer available for my Mercedes 220D sedan. I was a little worried about the handling of the tire, as the Mercedes is quite a heavy car. There was no reason to fear. The tires look good and handle perfectly. I live in the mountains, so the curves and hills will make you take notice of your car (and tires) ability to handle. These fit the bill perfectly. In fact, my car corners noticeably better than with the previous tires. I would definitely purchase these again.

    Great tires for the money

Great tires! Got mounted and balanced with minimal weights (I mount tires in my own garage). My 2012 Prius rolls surprisingly quiet and soft again – just like a new car. Handling and high speed performance are also very good. You need to understand though – it’s not a racing track tire, but very balanced one for a daily drive. Recommend!

Ride is very similar to Michelin

Great tire for the price. Very quiet ride and they handle great. I replaced the Michelin tire with these and they feel exactly the same.

    Hard to beat.

They work perfectly as advertised. Great in the mud and snow. Pretty quiet. Along with a 65k tread wear warranty. Hard to beat price.

Wouldn’t put anything else on my car

Just purchased my second set of these as the first set lasted me for six years believe it or not. They’re still holding up but time to replace them. These tires are great in the rain, and great in the snow. If you could see how worn these tires are on my car and how they held up driving through a rain storm and through deep puddles you would be amazed. I’ve had Goodyears, Kumho’s, and some other brands on the car over the years but nothing has been a perfect match like the Yokohama’s are. I’m extremely particular about my tires as my other car I do racing with and when I want a tire I go for one that can handle what you want to throw at it. These are exactly those tires and knocking on wood can’t believe I’ve never had a flat in 6 years. Dang tires going outlast the life of my car at this rate.

Excellent and durable tires for compact and medium-sized vehicles.s

I’ve had to completely replace the tires on my car that I’ve had for 13 years now, and I really like them. I purchased the all-season variation, and I honestly couldn’t be happier with them. I had to fall into brand loyalty, but should I need to purchase more tires for my current, or hopefully future vehicle someday, I’ll likely put some Yokohamas on it.

    Excellent engineering again from Yokohama

Great tires from Yokohama! This is my third set of tires by Yokohama brand on my 1998 Honda CRV. The snow performance is excellent as well as wet/dry performance!

    So far so good

I’ve had these tires on my Honda Accord 2002 for years now and I have no complaints. I’m no car expert, so I’m not gonna comment on how they drive, etc. What I can say is that they’ve worked fine so far, no problems since they were installed and I would buy them again.

    Really like these tires

I bought these tires to use for a 69 vw bug i’m restoring. I ordered (2) 195/65r15 for the rear. These tires will be mounted to Empi 8-Spoke 5.5″ rims. Tires are delivered raw (without any box) which was fine all tires arrived in perfect condition. I checked the dates on the tires and both were manufactured in 2019. First time in my long life have I bought a tire so new. Check the dates on your tires ,all tires have them. Just be concerned with the last 2 digits. I’m really happy with these tires, $77 each, you can’t go wrong. If they ever wear out before it’s my time to leave this world, I will surely buy them again, hopefully at the same price. Best of all MADE IN AMERICA!

    Great tires

Great Price and they really help the ride of the vehicle. I had these put on at a local shop and I have noticed how much quieter the ride is, how smooth the road seems. I could not have ask for a better tire. These tires have helped with being on a rainy road, no more hydroplaning when hitting puddles

2002 camry, the quietest tires that have been on it

got a fresh alignment and balance on the tires new struts and tie rods these tires are as good as i wanted them to be. over the last 50 years i have had a few sets of Yokohamas never had a bad set.this camry a 2002, has always had intense front tire noise. i have replaced the axles and the wheel bearings.and at least 3 other sets of tires trying to find something quiet to be fair i have only put about 1,000 miles on them. but so far they are actually quiet.do not know about extreme breaking or cornering…. just don’t do that truth is i am very happy with these tires. they balanced out very nicely no vibration at all did i mention they are quiet.they seem safe in rainstorms

OEM Honda Part – Great Quality

I’ve always ran Yokohama tires on most all of my cars. I was pretty happy to find all the 96-2000 Civics running Dealership provided tires are running these same tires. Simply great quality in this brand!Great quality tires, great tread design, great price. If you replace two, put them in the REAR!

Fantastic handling and quiet; but poor treadlife

I have a love/hate relationship with these tires. I’ve had them on multiple cars over the years. No other tire I’ve tried has ridden as smooth and quiet while still offering the quick grip you’d expect from a more performance-oriented tire. Great wet weather performance as well. It feels like an ideal commuter tire. That said, I’ve yet to have a set last more than 40k miles without needing to be replaced (even with regular rotating.) This last set barely made it past 30k. Part of that is because my commute has changed toward a shorter stop-and-go on curvy, hilly roads. But that’s still pretty poor. That said they’re a great deal so I’m trying to decide whether or not to pull the trigger yet again . . .
