Good so far… Hooks up great in deep snow.

Installed on the rear wheels of my F-150 work pickup truck. I was looking to replace my well worn light truck rated (load E, 10-ply) tires that I had put on a few years ago. We here in Michigan experienced our first significant snowfall a couple of weeks ago. Attempting to slow down for a yellow signal prooved way more difficult than last year on snow-covered roads. I checked my old tires tread depth when I got home. It was at 3/32.” Good enough for summer use but not winter. I decided to search for a good snow tire capable to support the load of equipment I haul in my truck. A standard load passenger tire doesn’t have enough strength (plys) for my use. I read up of the several different light-truck rated tires designed for cold weather/snow/ice since the winter season presents my most challenging period of the year to slow my vehicle down for all these traffic signals in the area I live. I decided on these General-branded tires after reading an outstanding report I found from a group of reviewers who had actually installed four different sets of snow-rated tires from different manufacturers on a pickup truck similar to mine with a load in the bed. They did braking, accelerating, and slalom-styled tests. They found these General Grabber Arctic LT tires to perform the best. Well, I had these installed on my Ford pickup and had them set the air pressure to 44psi. I took the truck down the same snow-covered gravel road I travelled the day before. Using the old tires stopping the truck was difficult and took a long time. The rear end slid around quite a bit. With the new tires on it was very obvious to me that stopping in the snow was much better. I actually pressed hard enough on the brake pedal to engage the rear ABS system on the truck. The coat on my passenger seat slid onto the floor as theses new back tires hooked firmly into the 6″ of snow covering the road. The day before it took at least twice the distance to stop.I’m very happy with these tires so far. Now, I just hope the cold-weather rubber compound they used holds up well in warm weather too as I’m going to use these year-round. One thing for sure: I feel much safer and confident at those traffic signals now.
